Dear Vic,

Really appreciate your thoughts and vision. A downfall in the ethics has creeped in every section of life.

Coming to wild life, humans tend to forget that this earth can go on without us but not without these animals who are much so important for the natural balance. The people who don't agree with me may have a look at the present state of ecosystem which is nothing but the human interference with the normal course of nature.

People who snap the wilderness in a round about manner, please don't call yourself nature photographers.

So glad you're writing about this. It never occurred to me that people would bait animals to get a shot, but it makes sense. Thank you for advocating relationship first, photos second. I can't help but think of Barry Lopez's essay, "Learning to See." While it's not entirely relevant, if you haven't read it, I think you might appreciate some of his philosophy.

Thank you Vic :) I'm glad you find my flower pictures nice. I'm still struggling with capturing bird shots....but the few I do have are clear. The shots on water are what I'm struggling with the most. We have a beautiful variety of Ducks that are native to B.C. Most migrate through. I also currently know where they stop to feed and rest. This I have documented either by memory or on paper. So even though I know thier habits....I'm still not able to caputure that great shot!! workin on it though

Thanks Crista, glad you enjoyed the article! Keeping wild things wild is what the Photo Naturalist is all about. I visited your site and really like what you've done with wildflowers, nice photos!

I thoroughly read your article about what a Naturalist truely is.....I find what you wrote quite refreshing. I have been asked a few times by people why do I spend so many hours hiking to come home most times with not a good shot to be had. They feel that I waste alot of my time. My response has always been....I love nature and I don't find what I do on my spare time a waste of time. If I'm lucky and head out and accually capture an image that depicts the love of what I do and embraces an exciting moment. Truely loving Nature-as-is.....instead of setting the stage and basically making wild animals rely on human interference to either shelter or feed them....which should always be morally wrong. :)
