I've tried bracketing a few times, and it was okay for me, but what I've really been concentrating on a lot recently is adjusting EV steps to get a better exposure. I've been paying more attention to my histogram and adjusting the EV steps appropriately, and I've been pretty pleased with the results. Just today, in fact, I found this to work even better than manual exposure in a dark area because I was maxed out on my f-stops, and I didn't want to slow the exposure time down any more, so I maxed out my EV steps, too, and got a rather passable picture!
